The Hot Shop is a fully functional glass art studio, and we enjoy sharing information about the science and history of glassblowing.  Bring your students in for a fun and exciting presentation of glassblowing. 

Students will be introduced to:

• The History of Glass
• Physical properties of glass
• Reactions of organic and inorganic materials to extreme temperatures
• Physical forces and the affect on molten glass
• Application of science in a glass studio

This is a dynamic and entertaining field trip.  Children will be excited as they learn about glass.  The presentation is adapted to the grade level in order to remain age-appropriate, but glassblowing is exciting and educational for both children and adults.  The cost of The Hot Shop Field Trip demonstration and lesson is $70.  Optional individual "make your own glass ornament" can be added.
